BroadwayWorld.Com (2009, Burn the Floor)
Juliet Chase, currently a lead dancer with the Broadway run of Burn the Floor,
sits down for a quick Q&A with Playbill.com to give the short version of being a part of So You Think You Can Dance, her time with Burn the Floor and being a dancer on Broadway.
Full given name:
Juliet Ashely Chase
Hometown:
San Diego,Califorina
Zodiac sign:
I always mix this up but I think Pisces?
Audition Song:
It changes all the time! I can never pick just one.
Special skills:
Besides dancing right? *said as she does the voice of Stewie from Family Guy* There's the voices and knowing way too much about the 80's according to some.
First Broadway show:
Touring company of Cats, cliche I know but its a classic.
If you could go back in time and catch any Broadway show, what would it be?
Rent during its opening run by a landslide. Alex and I danced "Tango Maureen" as part of our SYTYCD audition so its a special one.
Current show you have been recommending to friends:
Its a family thing but I'm happily plugging Shrek!
Favorite show tune:
Right now its a tie between "Freak Flag" from Shrek and "Hair" from Hair.
Most played song on your iPod:
Right now its "Full Moon" from the Twilight soundtrack.
One CD you couldn't live without:
Too many to pick just one!
Last book you read:
Vampire Diaries
Must-see TV shows: The fall run of So You Think You Can Dance, NCIS and The Mentalist.
Last good movie you saw:
I Love You Man via dvd, so dumb yet a fun dumb.
Celebrity Crush:
Michael Weatherly, its one of those I just can't explain.
Pop culture guilty pleasures:
Family Guy and Supernatural.
Favorite post-show meal:
A Bacon Cheeseburger with fries!
How you got your Equity card:
Dancing with Burn the Floor's touring troupe.
Worst on stage moment:
During the SYTYCD tour when Alex and I slipped on the stage at the exact same time, total fluke but it does make for a great story.
How did producers at Burn the Floor find you:
Turns out the son of one of the producers follows So You Think You Can Dance. That lead to 4 of us from my season being asked to join the troupe. Most amazing 2 years of my life.
Coolest moment to date:
Being asked to dance on Dancing with the Stars is high on the list since it shows I'm more than a ballroom dancer. That and people knowing SYTYCD at stage door, several have asked about Alex.
So what have you been doing since your time with Burn The Floor's touring company?: I went back to UCSD to finish my degree in history, it was something I promised myself I would do. But graduate school is on hold at least for now minus an online class when time allows.
Role your dying to play:
Maureen in RENT and for TV I would love to be a guest on Supernatural. Dancing demons anyone?
Pre-show Ritual: Besides stretching I have to text my brother.
Why Should We See Burn the Floor: Because it shows that ballroom dancing can be very cool!
Juliet Chase is currently a lead dancer with the limited Broadway run of Burn the Floor and is scheduled to join the cast of Dancing with the Stars as a pro after the holidays.
